The team has stated in a post that it will offer future information as necessary and is evaluating the remaining players and coaches for symptoms and signs of the virus.

Due to the fact that a significant percentage of the team has tested positive for COVID-19 and is exhibiting signs and symptoms of the virus, the Toronto Defiant have taken the option to participate remotely for the meantime. The aim will be to get back live at full capacity in time for both the Countdown Cup play-in tournament and the year-end OWL Playoffs.

DPS player Heesu Jeong has confirmed that he has tested positive. Since the beginning of the pandemic, this is the second occasion that many people in Toronto have been struck by a wave of COVID. In the middle of the previous year’s season, in May of 2021, three members of the Defiant tested positive.

As of right now, the Toronto Defiant are scheduled to play two more games as part of the Countdown Cup qualifiers. The first of these matches will take place against the Florida Mayhem on October 14, with both teams paying even-money odds for the win with GG Bet. The second will take place against the Houston Outlaws on October 16. Currently, Toronto have a record of 11-11, which places them in seventh place in the OWL West rankings.

The squads ranked seventh to 10th in the West will compete in the play-in competition for the playoffs that is incorporated into the Countdown Cup tournament itself.

It is possible for Toronto to clinch a top-six record in the West and advance directly to the playoffs if they are victorious in both of their remaining matches, which will be played away from home. As a result of this, the squad would be able to give its players additional time to relax and recuperate from the COVID spread that occurred recently.

Here are our OWL betting predictions for Toronto Defiant vs Vancouver Titans and Atlanta Reign vs Florida Mayhem.

TORONTO DEFIANT vs VANCOUVER TITANS OWL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

OWL Betting Odds: Defiant $1.17 at GG Bet | Titans $4.53 at GG Bet
When: April 17, 2021 at 12:00 PDT
Watch Live: Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/overwatchleague)

?When we talk about teams that aren’t built for success, the first one that should come to mind are the 2019 OWL finalists, the Vancouver Titans. There aren’t many things that would get you excited about this team besides Min-gi “Teru” Kim, Abtin “ShRedLock” Shirvani, and Nathan “frdwnr” Goebel, who still need to prove they’re better than everyone expects them to be.

The Titans first opponents of the 2021 season are the Toronto Defiant. They seem capable of great things this year, but a lot will come down to the performances of Su-min “SADO” Kim, Hee-su “Heesu” Jeong, and Jung-won “Lastro” Mun.

The problem with the Defiant is that while they have the talent, most of their star players aren’t exactly reliable, and fielding three rookies won’t help their consistency either – especially early in the season. Despite their relative lack of quality, the Titans should be capable of winning one map; however, until they prove otherwise, we wouldn’t expect much more from them.

ATLANTA REIGN vs FLORIDA MAYHEM OWL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

OWL Betting Odds: Reign $1.78 at GG Bet | Mayhem $1.95 at GG Bet
When: April 17, 2021 at 13:30 PDT
Watch Live: Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/overwatchleague)

?This might seem like a hot take, but we view the Florida Mayhem as one of the top five teams in the league. They might not have the high ceiling of some other squads, but their flexibility and stability are two big reasons why we trust the Mayhem to shine. That said, Florida’s success will greatly depend on Min-seok “OGE” Son and whether he can perform as well as he did in the early days of his OWL esports career.

The Atlanta Reign’s biggest strength is their stacked DPS position with Kai “Kai” Collins, Se-hyun “Pelican” Oh, and Tae-hoon “Edison” Kim, who will be the driving force behind how far this team can go. The problem is that the Reign dont look too solid in other positions, which will be a huge roadblock for them this season.

Even though there are a few ‘what ifs’ with the Mayhem, we don’t believe they should be considered as an underdog against Atlanta. The latter are definitely capable of a few upset wins if their DPS players perform well, but due to weaknesses elsewhere, it’s hard to take the Reign’s side as slender favourites with Overwatch betting sites.

Toronto Esports drops out of Overwatch Contenders over naming dispute https://www.seclub.top/toronto-esports-drops-out-of-overwatch-contenders-over-naming-dispute/ https://www.seclub.top/toronto-esports-drops-out-of-overwatch-contenders-over-naming-dispute/#respond Thu, 15 Nov 2018 00:16:30 +0000 https://www.seclub.top/?p=6042 IN what looks like a petty, childish development, Toronto Esports has dropped out of Overwatch’s Contenders minor league over a naming dispute.

Following a series of bizarre tweets from the organisation’s president and founder, Ryan Pallett, the team left the competition and put their future in jeopardy, citing recent changes to the Contenders rules, which are against our core company values.

Toronto Esports was recently managing the Overwatch Leagues Boston Uprising in the Contenders minor league. Pallet and his organisation had gone on to name its own minor league team ‘Toronto Uprising’ as a result of that partnership.

The name ‘Toronto Uprising’ is where the trouble began.

We have been informed by Blizzard that we will be forced to remove Toronto from our brand in only 6 weeks. Mid Contenders season 3, the Toronto Esports twitter account stated yesterday.

The reason cited: Toronto Defiant have purchased exclusive naming rights. We will be leaving Overwatch effective immediately. Good riddance.

Toronto Defiant is a new Overwatch League team that launched just weeks ago in Downtown Toronto.

Bizarrely, instead of pre-empting the coming request to change their name, Toronto Esports decided to challenge Toronto Defiant to a show match.

When Toronto Defiant didn’t respond to challenge, the Toronto Esports Twitter account doubled down on its narrative, insinuating that the Overwatch League team superior to them in skill and stature must be scared.

What does their silence tell you? the Twitter account went on to add.

The whole thing read like a teenager trying to start an argument and Toronto Defiant did not take the bait.

Boston Uprising president Chris Loranger has since clarified that his organisation still possess the Contenders teams player and staff contracts, as well as the Contenders slot. The team will go on.

I do not have the ability at the moment to address the recent or current decision out of Toronto Esports, and we were not part of the decision at all, Loranger tweeted.

We will continue to compete as a team, but obviously under a new brand. That is all I can say at the moment but will provide further details at a later date.

Toronto Defiant announce new additions to Overwatch roster https://www.seclub.top/toronto-defiant-announce-new-additions-to-overwatch-roster/ https://www.seclub.top/toronto-defiant-announce-new-additions-to-overwatch-roster/#respond Tue, 30 Oct 2018 04:54:08 +0000 https://www.seclub.top/?p=5886 AFTER being unveiled to to Canadian public just a week ago, Toronto Defiant has wasted no time in announcing important additions to its Overwatch eSports playing roster.

South Korean star, Kangjae (Envy) Lee, a 21-year-old from Seoul, will captain the Defiant from the Flex (off-tank) position while countryman Se Hyun (Neko) Park, a 20-year-old from Changwon, is another key signing in the Flex Support position.

Kangjae Lee comes to the Defiant after a successful stint at the LA Valiant, which finished fourth in the Overwatch League this season, while Se Huyn Park played with the third-place Boston Uprising and was voted on to the Atlantic Division all-star team.

Incredibly, since receiving its franchise license, Toronto Defiant has attracted more than CA$21 million in investment and has attracted tech entrepreneur Sheldon Pollack, venture capitalist Adam Adamou and Michael Kimel, part-owner of the Pittsburgh Penguins and co-founder of the Chase Hospitality Group.

Defiant’s launch party was a full house with a line down the street last Wednesday in downtown Toronto.

The question now is, how will the fledgling franchise perform in 2019?

London Spitfire will enter the 2019 season as reigning champion after winning the league championship and US$1 million in July after beating Philadelphia 3-0.

Importantly, in addition to its key player signings, the Defiant has also been able to attract the championship coach from the London Spitfire, Beoumjun (Bishop) Lee.
