NaVi had held a dominant 9-0 record over G2 since going international in July 2023, including a group-stage victory over G2 in the Fall Final.

The grand final saw G2 perform at their peak, with standout performances across the board.

By eliminating the Bees, G2 Esports are guaranteed their fourth top-two finish in an S-Tier tournament just a week after reaching the semifinals at ESL Pro League Season 20.
The fixture marked the first clash between G2 Esports and Team Vitality since BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2024, when G2 Esports still fielded Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen and Nemanja “nexa” Isakovi?.
Now, with a new lineup and largely thanks to the newest member Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa, G2 got their revenge.
NiKo Leads G2 Esports to Victory
The BLAST Premier: Fall Final semifinal series kicked off on G2 Esports’ pick of Anubis, yet despite choosing the map, G2 failed to get over the finish line and lost 9-13.
That also marked Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov’s first map of a 29-map streak in which he failed to post a positive rating. Still, despite the slow start for the Russian AWPer, he managed to pick up the pace in the final two.

The series moved to Vitality’s map pick, Dust2, which started close, entering half-time with a narrow 7-5 lead for G2.
Vitality responded on CT-side, winning the first two rounds, but could not find a response for NiKo, m0NESY, and malbsMd, who carried their side to victory with seven straight rounds to close the map.
After a back-and-forth start, the series moved to the deciding map �C Mirage, which continued the theme of the semifinal.
Team Vitality started strong, and on the back of Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, took three of the first four rounds but quickly lost momentum and entered the half-time 5-7 down.
Not to repeat the situation from Dust2, Vitality put their foot on the gas and secured seven of the first nine rounds on CT-side, setting themselves up for success.
But even after reaching a comfortable 12-9 lead Dan “apEX” Madesclaire and co. failed to close out the series.

Despite their best attempts, Vitality could not get the final map which would take them to the grand final.
They were unable to stop NiKo, who put on a masterful display and dragged his side into overtime, where a closely contested six maps ended in a well-deserved 16-14 victory for G2.
The Bosnian Counter-Strike superstar ended the series with a 1.47 performance rating, closely followed by malbsMd at 1.43.

The controversy began when BLAST approved an emergency substitution for Astralis at the Fall Final, allowing their newly signed captain, Casper “?cadiaN?” M?ller, to replace Alexander “?br0?” Bro after the roster lock deadline.
Astralis claimed br0 was unfit to play due to a medical emergency, though br0’s agent publicly stated that the player was fully healthy and ready to compete.

The decision has outraged several prominent players, including FaZe Clan��s Finn “?karrigan?” Andersen, Team Liquid��s Russel “?Twistzz?” Van Dulken, Team Vitality��s Dan “?apEX?” Madesclaire, and Falcons�� Marco “?Snappi?” Pfeiffer.
These IGLs, along with their teams, skipped the tournament’s media day in protest, with karrigan leading the charge by declaring, ��I might be unfit for BLAST Media tomorrow,�� a statement echoed by others.
Six out of eight teams followed suit, with only Astralis and Team Spirit��s IGL Leonid “?chopper?” Vishnyakov attending the event.
The protest stems from accusations that BLAST applied a double standard in allowing cadiaN to replace br0, whereas other teams have had similar requests denied in the past.
For example, in 2023, FaZe Clan��s request to replace H?vard “?rain?” Nygaard with Kristian “?k0nfig?” Wienecke was rejected, forcing FaZe to play with their coach instead.
Heroic faced a similar situation earlier in the year when they were denied a substitute for player Abdul “?degster?” Gasanov, who was unable to play due to visa issues.
The captains argue that if br0 was indeed unable to play, Astralis’ coach Danny “?ruggah?” S?rensen should have been the substitute, as per tournament rules.
The lack of transparency and perceived favouritism towards Astralis has fueled outrage among both players and fans.
Adding to the complexity is BLAST��s historical connection to Astralis, having shared ownership ties in the past, which raises concerns of a conflict of interest.
Though BLAST��s parent company, RFRSH Entertainment, divested from Astralis in 2019, the lingering ties still cast a shadow over such decisions.
In response to the controversy, the captains, led by karrigan, published an open letter criticising BLAST��s handling of the situation.
There are two things we as IGLs want to address when it comes to Blast’s decision regarding the allowance of Cadian to play for Astralis at Blast Fall Finals.
Firstly, integrity is at utmost importance. The roster lock rules are established for this very purpose. There have been 2 separate cases where coaches were forced to play for their respective teams: Heroic at Blast Fall Groups, and G2 at Blast Spring Finals. Emergency substitutes have previously been denied, and in this case, we believe that if br0 is in fact unfit to play, Astralis coach Ruggah would have to step in and play.
The results at Blast Fall Finals have a significant impact on the RMR Rankings, as well as a significant impact on the teams that are currently fighting for crucial points to qualify for Blast World Finals.
The second aspect we wish to address is our firm stance against the exploitation of mental health or physical health issues as a means to justify the allowance of an emergency substitute. We believe that such matters should never be taken lightly. In the event that a player faces an emergency in the future, it is essential to respect their privacy and extend our wishes for a speedy recovery to them.
We are not requesting evidence of br0��s situation, and we extend our best wishes and respect to him, if an emergency is indeed the case. As previously mentioned, rules are rules, and according to the precedent set by Blast stating that if no substitutes are added prior to the event, the coach would be the primary substitute.
Given the circumstances, we believe that Ruggah should serve as a substitute, and permitted to play, if he is in good health and fit to do so.
Finally, if Astralis were to receive a penalty or sanction, we advocate that any fine imposed should be going towards a mental health charity donation.

Team Falcons also faced a challenging path to the BLAST Premier Fall Final but they rose to the occasion.
After an opening win against M80, Falcons had to overcome two of the highest-ranked teams in the tournament, Complexity and Virtus.pro.
Led by Marco “Snappi” Pfeiffer and bolstered by the experience of players like Emil “Magisk” Reif, Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen, and the standout performer Alvaro “SunPayus” Garcia, Falcons secured their place in the Fall Final.

Nicolai “?device?” Reedtz expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, acknowledging NiP’s potential despite their lacklustre showing.
“We played really well, and NIP are probably a better team than they showed today,” device commented post-match.
“It’s been a decent tournament. We had some really good moments against Vitality, even though we lost. We’re happy to get the season started.”
Artem “?r1nkle?” Moroz had a notably tough series, averaging a 0.62 rating and managing only four AWP kills.
Despite the setback, NIP��s coach, Richard “?Xizt?” Landstr?m, remained optimistic.
“We can’t get too greedy with how good we want to be results-wise. We’re facing really good teams and have some young players, so we just need a bit of time and experience,” he said.
Astralis’ journey to the play-in match came after a second-place finish in their group, where they were defeated by Team Vitality.
NiP, on the other hand, fell to G2 Esports in their group.
The series commenced on Mirage, with Jakob “?jabbi?” Nygaard (1.78 rating) and Martin “?stavn?” Lund (1.57 rating) leading Astralis to victory.
Inferno saw NiP struggle further, posting only five rounds despite winning both pistol rounds, ultimately ending their campaign in disappointment.
In the final series of BLAST Premier Fall Groups, Natus Vincere (NaVi) claimed the sixth Fall Final spot by defeating Complexity 2-0 (13-11, 13-6).

NAVI��s run through the groups was challenging, marked by two losses to Team Liquid.
However, they capitalised on their second qualification attempt against Complexity.
The match on Anubis was closely contested, with Complexity leading 6-1 on the counter-terrorist side before NaVi turned the tide.
Key performances from Justinas “?jL?” Lekavicius and crucial entries by Aleksi “?Aleksib?” Virolainen helped secure the map.
On Nuke, NaVi dominated from the start, concluding with a 9-3 offensive half and a quick series close.
Jonathan ‘EliGE’ Jablonowski played a lone hand for Complexity throughout the series, finishing as their only player to record a positive kill/death difference (+5) and the third-highest rated player on the server (1.15).
Post-match, jL reflected on NAVI’s performance, emphasising the importance of their group stage struggles.
“It’s good that we got exposed here so that we can focus on Cologne,” jL stated.
“I think it was B1ad3’s master plan all along. Play five games so we get the most practice and be ready for Cologne.
“Jokes aside, our mistakes got exposed and we can fix them.”
Complexity and Ninjas in Pyjamas will drop into the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown, joining the 14 other squads who will compete for the final two spots at the Fall Final.

Despite entering as heavy favourites with top esports betting sites, Spirit faced a challenging match.
Complexity managed to secure a double-overtime win on Dust2, overcoming a series of highlight plays from Danil “donk” Kryshkovets and Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov.
However, Spirit rebounded on Anubis, maintaining their eight-map winning streak with a decisive 13-6 victory.
The final map, Nuke, saw Complexity initially leading, but Spirit’s Leonid “chopper” Vishnyakov and sh1ro’s clutch plays turned the tide, securing a seven-round streak and the series win.

G2 Esports clinched a spot at the BLAST Premier Fall Final with a dominant 2-0 (13-7, 13-8) victory over Ninjas in Pyjamas.
On Ancient, G2’s Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov led the charge with 16 kills in the first half, and while Max “maxster” Jansson shone on the terrorist side, G2 secured the map off the back of a strong first half performance.
Inferno saw G2 quickly gaining a 6-2 lead before Ninjas in Pyjamas briefly rallied.
However, G2’s solid performance on both sides of the map led to a comfortable victory.
Despite the win, G2’s in-game leader, Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski, admitted the team made some mistakes but felt no significant pressure during the match.

Vitality emerged victorious in Group B, defeating Astralis 2-1 (10-13, 13-10, 13-7) to secure their place at the Fall Final.
Astralis started strong on Vertigo, winning 13-10 after a competitive first half.
However, Vitality bounced back on Mirage, overcoming a 0-7 deficit to win 13-10.
The decider, Nuke, was a tight contest in the first half, with Astralis holding a 7-5 lead.
Vitality’s impeccable defense in the second half, led by Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, secured an eight-round streak, culminating in a 13-7 victory and a ticket to Copenhagen.

Team Liquid booked their spot in the Fall Final after triumphing over Natus Vincere in their Group D rematch, winning 2-1 (9-13, 16-14, 13-10) after a fiercely contested series.
NaVi dominated the early stages of Nuke, leading 10-2, but Liquid’s strong defence made it a closer 13-9 finish.
On Anubis, Liquid’s impressive terrorist-side play led to a 16-14 overtime victory.
The decider, Inferno, featured dramatic swings, with NaVi initially gaining control with a nine-round streak.
Liquid, however, turned the game around on the counter-terrorist side, driven by Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak’s performance, and secured the map 13-10, earning their spot in the Fall Final.
The losers from each of the four finals will clash in two do-or-die series’, with the winners earning automatic qualification into the Fall Final and the losers relegated to the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown.
